Gift Designation
In an effort to recognize participating facilities, and create a system of sustained evidence-based change, the LaPQC’s Gift Program offers Gift Designation. With two tiers of achievement – LA Gift and LA Gift+ – this Designation recognizes facilities’ consistent, thoughtful healthcare and quality improvement work. Gift Designation also celebrates improved perinatal and neonatal health outcomes, the result of safely and consistently implementing internationally recognized best practices to improve breastfeeding outcomes.
Each Designation level includes the following five areas of requirement: participation in quality improvement and collaborative learning; health disparity and patient partnership; policies and procedures; structures and education, including consistent messaging; and outcome and process measures.
The Gift does not replace Baby-Friendly accreditation, but assists facilities in achieving and maintaining standards that position them for success during Gift and Baby-Friendly™ designation and maintenance.
Applications for designation and redesignation are reviewed on a quarterly basis (October, January, April, July) by a Bureau of Family Health appointed review committee. For more information on enrollment or the designation application process, please contact the lapqc@la.gov.

Hospitals receiving Gift Designation did not pay for this honor; rather, facilities went through a rigorous application and review process by the LaPQC/Gift Team to receive Gift Designation. Facilities interested in joining the LaPQC or learning more about Gift Designation can contact us at lapqc@la.gov.
